Abortion and Informed Consent: A Paradigm Shift to Protect Innocent Lives
This essay expresses a major paradigm shift and is intended to plant a seed with the hope that this message will resonate and grow within the reader. I also encourage everyone to think outside of the box, evaluate how one views the current laws and the methods that are utilized to combat the attacks on innocent babies. My approach to this sensitive subject matter is founded in the basic principles of liberty. The responsible exercise of freedom. These basic principles; individual rights…natural God given-individual rights, freedom over force, and a limited and constrained Government.
If we believe these principles to be true, then Government involvement in the abortion argument is a complete and total overreach. I believe that abortion was conceived, promoted, and popularized by the Devil himself. But, if we truly possess these GOD given individual rights, and we make the conscious choice to fight the laws supporting abortion, shouldn’t we take a different approach, to throttle back the outrageous numbers of babies killed to date.
But what about these sweet innocent babies, and the genocide which has been occurring for decades? Do they not have the protection of the 14th amendment and the Declaration of Independence, “They are endowed by the creator with certain unalienable rights. That among these are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness”? I acknowledge there are opposing opinions on when life begins. There are 38 states that enforce the fact that a fetus is protected under the 14th amendment. These 38 states have and will continue to prosecute a person for double homicide, if a pregnant woman is murdered. The fetus then becomes the second homicide victim. When does life begin? The question is, what is the solution to saving these precious souls? I say to you, it is the method and the message. The method and message have been flawed from the beginning. The method should be “informed consent” for a medical procedure. Many years ago, I had a vasectomy requiring informed consent and consultation explaining the pros and cons of this procedure, with my spouse present. Then, there was a cooling off period, allowing time to contemplate the information before I could have the procedure. Shouldn’t the expectant mother be afforded the same “informed consent” process? This process should include the man who impregnated the woman. Equal treatment under the law is not equal if we treat an expectant mother’s pregnancy (rights) differently from the way a male’s vasectomy is treated. It is blatantly sexist and discriminatory.
What should the message be in order to throttle back the outrageous numbers of abortions to save these babies, while honoring ones God given, individual rights? We should provide the expectant mother with all the information, including the gory details of abortion, with love and compassion, explaining the impact to the mother and baby before, during and after the termination of the pregnancy. And also provide the options available if the baby is carried to term. The answer is information, education, and “informed consent”.
Organizations like “Project Ultrasound” for example, a 501(c)3 pro-life charity that exists to educate the public about the effectiveness of ultrasounds in deterring abortion. While organizations are having a positive impact, we can do more and still honor the responsible exercise of freedom. Abortion should be handled as a medical procedure with limited and constrained government involvement. There should be laws to require “informed consent”, and a cooling off period.
Most importantly, return the father to his position of power as God intended. I believe, if one intends to destroy a culture, the nation, then God’s protectors of his people, defenders of the innocent must be removed and destroyed. God’s Lions must stand strong to fight off the jackals. The phrase “My body, my choice” is a calculated evil attack of the Lions of society. It is man’s seed which lives within the female. The phrase should be “Our body (baby) our choice”. This process is a difficult proposition, as it involves changing the mindset and the culture. Parents raising young men to be Lions, to be responsible for their actions and behaviors, and Churches teaching the same, to their congregation.
We should acknowledge this is a bold paradigm shift. Fighting the corrupt laws have not protected these precious babies, therefore we should focus on informed consent, with both parties (Man & Woman), and require abortion clinics to practice the informed consent process. The seed has been planted.
