School Board under attack from radical group after removing age-inappropriate books from libraries

WASHINGTON D.C.– Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (CO-04) made the following statement regarding the Elizabeth School Board in Colorado and their efforts to protect young children from inappropriate books while coming under attack from a radical national organization:

“I commend and fully support the Elizabeth School Board for their courage in standing up for our children and taking action to make sure their libraries have age-appropriate materials that provide educational value. After receiving considerable feedback from parents and the community, the School Board took the reasonable step of removing just 0.05% of books in their libraries that carried graphic material. Because of these efforts, the Elizabeth School Board has now been sued by the ACLU, whose latest mission is to bully parents and school board members across the country who stand up for children and protect parental rights.

I am proud to have Elizabeth School District in the 4th Congressional District and I stand with their School Board members, parents, and students who refuse to be bullied by lawsuits and will fight for the best interests of our children every day.”

Earlier this year, Congresswoman Boebert joined 4th District State Board of Education Director Kristi Burton Brown, State Senator Rod Pelton, and State Representative Chris Richardson in signing a letter of support for the Elizabeth School Board.

Elizabeth School District Superintendent Dan Snowberger recently wrote an op-ed on the School Board’s decision which you can read HERE.
