Poudre School District Board Hears Recommendation to Close Nine Schools

The Poudre School District Board of Education formally heard a recommendation to close nine district schools and consolidate two others at its business meeting Oct. 13.

Beattie, Irish, Johnson, Livermore, Putnam, Stove Prairie, Red Feather and Timnath elementary schools and Blevins Middle School would all be closed following the current school year if the committee’s recommendation is approved by the Board of Education.

The plan also calls for combining the district’s two alternative high schools, Centennial and Poudre Community Academy, into a single new school, as well as boundary changes that would put some attendance areas currently assigned to Bamford and Werner elementaries within the Bacon Elementary School boundary.
